Practical skills development

We were instructed to make a film trailer using inspirational texts from similar trailers.

Inspirational trailer

Rough outline of idea our idea was to create a horror film trailer using found footage, we did this by shaking the camera and seeing the action as if you were looking through the persons eyes. This found footage technique has been used in various real horror films such as Paranormal Activity, The Devil Inside and Cloverfield.

Conclusion
By constructing this trailer i have learned lots of new things and understand more how film trailers are made and how they can be made to entice the audience to see the film. One thing i have learned is how to use the computer programme Final Cut Express, by using this i could re order the shots that we did and add inter titles and sound to add more effect and create tension. Other skills i have developed include using a video camera, i now understand how to use the camera in different ways to scare the audience such as using the typical horror shot where you first see the killer then the camera faces away, then when it looks back the killer is no longer there, we used to shots to shoe this effect. I have also improved my acting skills as i had to act as a killer so my body language had to be scary for example bowing my head with a hood over my eyes.
